The days seem to be rushing by and we have been so busy. We are finishing up Unit 2 in math. We are reviewing and trying to sharpen our skills at making ballpark estimates as well as partial sums addition and subtraction using number lines and trading first. Today we practiced adding and subtraction using magic squares. It was really fun.

Did you know there are many different kinds of nouns? We are learning about common and proper nouns. Proper nouns should always be capitalized because they are the special names form all common nouns. Proper nouns are the names of months, days, holidays, names of people and places, even buildings and businesses. The names of cities and states are also proper nouns. Any name that an exact person, place, or thing is a proper noun.

We are also learning to write compound and simple sentences. Compound sentences are two sentences that are combined into one and connected with the words "and" or "but". We are also learning to write commas in the correct place when we list a series of things in a sentence. All of these writing rules will help us make our writing easier for people to read.

Today we learned about dancing from the Ririe-Woodbury Dancy Company from Salt Lake. It was very fun to watch them tell stories with their bodies.

We also had visitors from the FFA class at the high school. They taught us about safety around equipment and machines. They plan to come every month and give us a lesson about farms and safety.

More of our class is passing off their mighty math drills. Here is the latest list:

Brinn, Jasa, Jewel, and Drake have completed level 2A and are now on 2B.
Malone has passed 1B and is now on 1C.
Stetler has now passed off 3A and only needs one more 100% on 3B.
Hunter has passed off 2B and is on 2C.
