A week has gone by and we haven't updated our blog. You can tell just how busy we have been. We finally got everyone all finished with the IOWA test. What a relief! Now we are getting ready to form our guided reading groups and start working on using reading strategies as well as really working hard on learning how to learn new words. We are still practicing on writing complete sentences, but we are getting better.
We learned the five parts of a letter and wrote a letter to Mrs. Labrum summarizing the books we are reading during silent reading. She showed us a scoring rubric, which is a guide that tells what is expected for a certain number of points. We now know just what we must do for a letter to be a 4-point letter (the best).
In math we are using numberlines to add and subtract. We are learning how to read story problems and write a number model to show how to solve a problem. It is sometimes difficult but we are getting much better at all of it.
More and more of us are getting done with the mighty math drills each day. Since Tuesday, September 23, the following students have passed drills:
Nick - passed off 1B and moved to 1C.
Drake - got 100 twice on 1C.
Jenna passed off 1B and moved to 1C.
Rylan passed off all of level 2A.
Samantha Moved on to 2C and has gotten 100% twice.
Ricky passed off 2A and got 100% once on 2B.
Carlie has passed off 2A and has 100% twice on 2B.
Danyale passed off 1C and has 100% twice on 2A.
Stetler has passed off 2C and moved on to 3A.
Larissa got 100% on 1C.
Hunter got 100% on 2A.
We earned another reward for being on task. We spent 30 minutes outside in the warm air just relaxing because this weekend it is supposed to turn cold and we might not have many warm afternoons for a while. Then we came in and did a fun art activity using graph paper.
More fun coming up next week!
